Google Chrome and .torrent Files

Does anyone else find that recently Google Chrome does not open BitTorrent .torrent files without a minute or more delay.  It just sits at 1KB while downloading the file.  I have found that the general errors of Google Chrome (which is beta I admit) cause it to no longer be my "default" browser, but I expect to go back to it.  I used Windows 7 and I.E. 8 for a bit and was unimpressed (with I.E. 8, Win7 was awesome). 

Edit: I just figured out that it is any file downloaded via Google Chrome that has this issue.  it just sits there after the start for about 20-30 seconds.
